Shaun Weiss checks into rehab

The Mighty Ducks star Shaun Weiss is seeking long-term treatment in a rehabilitation centre following his recent arrest for public intoxication.
The former child actor, who portrayed Greg ‘Goldie’ Goldberg in the classic sports films, hit headlines earlier this month (Aug18) after he was detained overnight for drunken behaviour in Oroville, California.
He was released without charge after sobering up, but the incident made Weiss realise he needed to seek out professional help to tackle his substance abuse struggles.
He took to Facebook on Tuesday (21Aug18) to address the news with fans, explaining he had sunk so low, even he was surprised at his dire situation.
Weiss wrote, “At this time, in an effort to break free from the self destructive patterns of behavior and drug abuse that have landed me at rock bottom, (to be real… BELOW rock bottom. Even rock bottom is like ‘holy s**t, how’d you get all the way down there?’) I have checked in to a well reguarded (sic), long term rehabilitation center.”
“I have surrendered to the reality that without immediate treatment my life is in eminant (sic) danger,” he continued. “My spirit was until recently depleted, weak and shrouded by darkness (but) has been renewed by the overwhelming out-pouring of love and support from fans of my early work as an actor (sic)…”
The 38 year old has been in and out of jail in recent years, and last summer (17), Weiss was handed a 90-day sentence for possession of methamphetamine. That punishment was delivered just five days after he was ordered to spend 150 days in jail for theft, although he was released after just 12 days due to overcrowding.
