Being famous seems to have a bad curse on marriages, which is understandable. Making a relationship work is hard all by itself, let alone doing it while the world is watching. But which celebrity marriages ended almost as soon as they began?
1. Britney Spears and Jason Alexander – 55 Hours
The pop princess married her childhood friend in Las Vegas, but it didn’t last. He told ABC News that Britney asked him to go to Vegas to get married and he accepted. However when they made it back, her mother and managers disapproved because they didn’t have a prenup. It was quickly annulled.
2. Dennis Hopper and Michelle Phillips – 8 Days
The actor had a long string of marriages, but the one with this singer was notoriously short. In an interview with The New York Times, he jokes “seven of those days were pretty good. The eighth day was the bad one.”
3. Carmen Electra and Dennis Rodman – 9 Days
The couple also got married in Vegas and realized quickly that they made a mistake. “Our relationship was very passionate. When it was good, it was amazing. And when it was bad, it was the worst,” Electra explained on OWN. She also mentions that they exchanged their nuptials shortly after her mother’s death and that probably contributed to the decision to say “I do.”
4. Cher and Greg Allman – 9 Days
The two got hitched after six months of dating, but the rock star told Rolling Stone that he just wasn’t into the icon 100%. “Well, I cared about one side of her. Couldn’t stand the General Patton side. But I did love the helpless little girl side of her.”
5. Mario Lopez and Ali Landry – 2 Weeks
The two were in a relationship for six years, but when they finally walked down the aisle it was the beginning of the end. The Saved by The Bell star admitted in his memoir that he cheated at his bachelor party and he knew he wasn’t really in love.
6. Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries – 72 Days
The world went crazy after these two announced they weren’t going to stick together shortly after their televised wedding. According to the show, the two had very different views on their future. Kris wanted to move to Minnesota, and Kim wanted to stick with her career in California.
7. Nicolas Cage and Lisa Marie Presley – 3 Months
It looks like this is another couple that fell too soon before knowing each other. Lisa told ABC News, “I fell into this whole, ‘You poor, sweet, misunderstood man, I’m going to save you.’ … I fell in love with him.” But that just couldn’t last and the two split after 108 days.
8. Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Esposito – 4 Months
This good looking couple just couldn’t make things work. The Blue Bloods actress wrote about her ex in her memoir, and revealed all the red flags she overlooked. She claims the actor was “cocky, arrogant, and a master manipulator” in the end.
9. Renee Zellweger and Kenny Chesney – 4 Months
The country star and actress also seemed to have different ideas about their marriage. Renee cited fraud as the reason, and the couple released a statement saying that there was a miscommunication of the objective of their marriage.
10. Kid Rock and Pamela Anderson – 4 Months
They say that divorce season is after the New Year because couples want to put on a brave face around the holiday season. But this couple couldn’t wait. The two filed for divorce after having a bad Thanksgiving. The rocker later claimed on Howard Stern that when the marriage started to affect his son, he knew it was time to call it quits.
11. Chad Michael Murray and Sophia Bush – 5 Months
The two co-stars of One Tree Hill tried to have their happily ever after, but things ended fast in an annulment due to fraud. Rumor has it that he cheated with Paris Hilton and that’s what led to things crashing and burning.
12. Elizabeth Moss and Fred Armisen – 8 Months
The two actors got hitched, but it quickly ended on bad terms. Moss told New York Magazine that the marriage was “extremely traumatic and awful and terrible.” Sounds like it’s good that they called it quits!
