Snooki and JWoww Fire Back At New Jersey Governor

Jersey Shore Snooki MTV VMAYesterday, it was announced that Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Jenni “J-Woww” Farley would not be taking their Jersey Shore spin-off to Hoboken, New Jersey after the city’s residents were up in arms about the potential damage the pair’s presence might do to their community. And if you remember, in September, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie vetoed Jersey Shore’s $420,000 tax credit stating that the series serves to “perpetuate misconceptions about the state and its citizens.” Now, Snooki and JWoww are firing back at Christie, challenging his opinions of them.

“He calls us buffoons and degenerates. And [says] we have no education. He’s totally wrong. I wish he would just meet us first. I can’t beleive people like that are in the government,” she told TVGuide after tweeting that she’d never vote for the Governor.

Meanwhile, JWoww has a different message: Christie should be grateful. JWoww said, in the same interview, “It is known publicly that we brought close to $500 million into Jersey. We wanted to help the economy. We wanted to help the police and the teachers out there. And we did, and we’re proud of it.” Perhaps what she means by “helping” police and teachers is that they give the police more work to do when they’re in town – there’s usually a Snooki arrest just around the corner – and they’ve given teachers more work to do since they now have to fight furiously to keep their students from ending up as a grenade or juicehead on the series that won’t die.

But something had to have sparked this controversy and set of angry comments from the tan duo. And apparently that spark was some misinformation. Yesterday, Snooki went on a mini Twitter rant: “I will not be voting for Chris Christie. Love always, the “buffoons” from that degrading Jersey Shore show.” She later added, “I DEF don’t want a judgmental president who has NEVER met me in person. F that.” and “I’ll stick w Obama.” This was a big mystery to most people who read the newspaper or use Twitter or watch Saturday Night Live, because Christie announced in October that he would not run for president in 2012. Apparently “somebody” told Snooki the governor was still considering a bid, and if he ever runs in the future, he can be sure one little meatball won’t be punching a ballot for him. And one thing’s for sure, New Jersey politicians aren’t going to stop claiming embarrassment with regard to the Seaside set’s antics as long as the series is associated with public drunkenness, dresses that fail to cover girls’ rear ends, and orange skin. It seems this is one rivalry that can’t be settled with a round of tequila shots.
