Soft Cell have released their first new track in 15 years ahead of the duo’s final show in London next month (Sep18).
Singer Marc Almond has described Northern Lights as “a celebration of our roots in northern soul”.
The lyrics to the track reference the Northern Soul dance movement with mentions of fabled English nightclubs like Manchester’s Twisted Wheel.
Almond and bandmate David Ball will play their farewell show at the O2 Arena in London on 30 September (18).
“I always felt something was unfinished,” Almond said as he announced the show in February. “This last ever final show will be the best ever ending. It will be a real statement and send off, and thank you to every fan.”
