Bonus Trivia

Left school at 16 to tour with Jack Teagarden's band.

His playing on Johnny Smith's "Moonlight in Vermont" helped to mint the eponymous album and its title track as major hits.

Getz's 1964 album, Nobody Else But Me, was recorded during his bossa nova phase, but featured more straightforward jazz. As a result, Verve Records refused to release it until after Getz's death.

Getz played on Huey Lewis and the News' 1988 album Small World, and was featured on albums by Everything But the Girl and Cybill Shepherd during this same period.

After Getz's death, Herb Alpert made a donation to Berklee College of Music to establish the Stan Getz Media Center and Library.
