Stephen Lang Will Kill Blue People in 3 More ‘Avatar’ Sequels

Avatar, Stephan Lang20th Century Fox

A certain colonel is coming back to finally rid Pandora of its blue cat-people problem.

Seemingly unperturbed by the gigantic arrows that were shot through his body by vengeful Na’vi, Stephen Lang will return with his character Colonel Quartich for not one or two but three Avatar sequels. Since it has taken almost five years for the next Avatar sequel to even being filming, we’re wondering how old Stephen Lang will be by the time Avatar 4 rolls around. This problem is exacerbated by the fact that Avatar 4 will reportedly be a prequel, in which Colonel Quartich is younger than he was in the original movie. Our ability to suspend our disbelief will be stretched to its limit. About as far as it was when learned someone thought it was a good idea to cast Giovanni Ribisi as the head of a gigantic corporation.

And so, we continue along the trend of older actors are playing action roles that don’t necessarily suit their ages. We saw Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone trudge their way through Escape Plan with mixed results, and we’re wondering if Stephen Lang will still be believable in the role by the time Avatar 4 comes out. The man is already 61 for heavens sake! Maybe it’s time to put down bowie knife and leave the cat-people genocide to a younger and more spry gentleman with the same brewing hatred for things that are different and foriegn.
