Vaughan was voted Best New Talent and Best Electric Blues Guitar Player by Guitar Player in 1983, Rhythm & Blues Act of the Year by Performance in 1987 and the 12th Greatest Guitarist of All Time by Rolling Stone in 2011.


Vaughan appeared in the film, "Back to the Beach" (1987), trading guitar leads with Dick Dale.


In 1991, former Texas governor Ann Richards proclaimed October 3, "Stevie Ray Vaughan Commemoration Day."


Featuring performances from Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt and Robert Cray, A Tribute To Stevie Ray Vaughan, was released in 1996, with the track, "SRV Shuffle," later picking up a Best Rock Instrumental Grammy.
