Beloved child actress Summer Phoenix started her entertainment career at the tender age of eight. In 1986, she appeared in the NBC TV movie "Katie's Secret." She also appeared in the TV movie "Kate's Secret" (NBC, 1986-87). She had a part on the television special "Taking It Home" (NBC, 1986-87). Phoenix worked in television around the start of her acting career with a role on "ER" (NBC, 1994-2009). She next focused her entertainment career on film, appearing in the dramatic adaptation "Girl" (1998) with Dominique Swain, the horror flick "The Faculty" (1998) with Jordana Brewster and "I Woke Up Early the Day I Died" (1999). She also appeared in the Matthew Lillard dramedy "Slc Punk!" (1999), "Committed" (2000) with Heather Graham and the Danny Aiello crime flick "Dinner Rush" (2001). In the early 2000s, she then appeared in "Esther Kahn" (2002), "The Believer" (2002) and "Suzie Gold" (2004). Phoenix's music was most recently featured in "Reservation Road" (2007) with Joaquin Phoenix. She also was featured in the TV movies "The Laramie Project" (HBO, 2001-02) and "Wasted" (MTV, 2001-02). Phoenix was married to Casey Affleck. The couple had two sons, and Indiana August Affleck.

Like the rest of her family, Phoenix is a vegan. As she told VA Musetto of the New York Post (Feb. 24, 2002): "I do it out of compassion for animals and health just comes along with it. It's a beautiful plus. It allows me to smoke cigarettes and drink coffee and not feel so bad."

Phoenix owns the vintage clothing boutique in Manhattan, NY and in LA called Some Odd Rubies with friends Odessa Whitmire and Ruby Canner.
