Suri’s Birth Certificate Delay Explained

Hollywood baby Suri Cruise’s birth certificate has been leaked onto the Internet, prompting speculation about the little girl’s first few weeks.

The document, filed with the Los Angeles County Register Recorder/County Clerk, and obtained by TMZ.com, was filed on May 8–almost a month after baby Suri was born.

It’s customary in Los Angeles to file the birth details within 10 days of the delivery. A source at St John’s Hospital, where baby Suri was born, tells TMZ.com the delay occurred because they needed a signature from the parents or a representative of the parents certifying birth, and that person did not come in until May 4.

The person who signed for Tom Cruise and wife-to-be Katie Holmes is labeled a “friend” in the document.

The hospital source also reveals the ‘friend’ explained to staff that the birth certificate was necessary for Suri to obtain a passport.
