Biography

Sydney Tafler was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Early on in his acting career, Tafler landed roles in various films, including the drama "It Always Rains on Sunday" (1949) with Googie Withers, "Once a Sinner" (1950) and "The Lavender Hill Mob" (1952) with Alec Guinness. He also appeared in "The Secret People" (1952) with Valentina Cortese, "Operation Diplomat" (1953) and the drama "The Square Ring" (1955) with Jack Warner. His passion for acting continued to his roles in projects like the Celia Johnson dramatic adaptation "A Kid For Two Farthings" (1956), the sci-fi motion picture "Fire Maidens From Outer Space" (1956) with Anthony Dexter and the Kenneth More drama "Reach For the Sky" (1956). He also appeared in "The Cockleshell Heroes" (1956). During the latter part of his career, he continued to act in "Carry on Regardless" (1963), "The 7th Dawn" (1964) and "Alfie" (1965). He also appeared in "Promise Her Anything" (1966) with Warren Beatty and the mystery "Berserk" (1967) with Joan Crawford. Tafler more recently acted in the Roger Moore action picture "The Spy Who Loved Me" (1977).
