Ever since Taylor Lautner made his memorable debut in the Twilight Saga, teens and adults have stared at the silver screen with awe. The chiseled abs, the smoldering stare, the bulging biceps — is this guy really only 17? From that moment on, Lautner quickly rose to A-list celebrity status and became the world’s number one heartthrob, swiftly ousting Zac Efron and Robert Pattinson fom the throne. But in an interview for the September issue of VMAN, Taylor admits that his successful rise to fame isn’t all fun and games.
The Abduction star laments about the downside to all his success, saying. “When I am traveling the world promoting the films, I say I am on vacation, but it’s not really true, I guess. When I go to a beautiful city I spend the whole time in a hotel room and then I am back on a plane to the next place.” Lautner goes on to say that with his budding career and growing work schedule he rarely finds any time to kick back and just relax: “If I’m not filming, I’m promoting, and if it wasn’t Twilight, it was a different movie, so it got really busy. I hang out with my friends, family, and kind of just — I don’t even know. It’s like, when I am not filming, it seems like — I don’t even know what I do.” And while he became a star in the Twilight movies, the actor modestly (or foolishly) believes that it’s not him the fans want to see. He explains, “It’s definitely these characters we are playing. They are in love with Bella Swan, Edward Cullen, and Jacob Black. I mean, they feel like they know them. We are just lucky enough to be playing them. But I definitely think it’s the characters.”
I find it a little hard to feel all that bad for our furry friend though. The traveling, the adoration, the ability to pretty much get whatever you want — I mean, sure it has its downsides, but you can say that about pretty much everything. I’d at least like to be sitting in a private jet or strutting around on the red carpet while complaining about the tribulations of my so-called difficult life. I’m just happy he’s of legal age now so I don’t feel as weird staring at him with his shirt off. Werewolves have never looked so good!
