We get it, Taylor Swift: people like you! They really, really like you. Here’s hoping that her shock-and-awe face didn’t make too many appearances at the 2012 MTV European Music Awards, where Swifty nabbed herself three awards during her first-ever appearance at the show. “This is my very first EMA, I’m so excited. This is unreal,” Swift declared whilst riding a unicorn over a rainbow-and-smiles-studded cloud picking up her first win of the night: Best Female Act. “This is the first time touring in Europe. Thank you for giving us another reason to come back!”
Other highlights from the night included the deliriously-addictive “Gangnam Style” rapper PSY picking up the Best Video prize for the song, as well as putting on a rousing rendition, complete with a one Mr. David Hasselhoff and a troupe of dancers pulling out their best horse moves. Tween popsicle act One Direction took home two awards: Best New Act and an award just for having an oh-so-rabid fanbase.
One of the biggest shocks of the night, though, came from Rihanna, who led the pack with six nominations but walked away with…zero awards. Say what? It’s true! Not a single trophy was won that night by the Bahamian princess, to the surprise of many who imagined she would sweep the show. Check out the full list of winners below:
