The Billboard Beats: Bruno Mars and Rihanna Stay Strong, Taylor Swift Back In the Game

Bruno Mars

Bruno Mars has a stronghold on the No. 1 spot of Billboard’s Hot 100. For the third week in a row, “Locked Out of Heaven” has maintained top position, conquering worthy adversaries like Rihanna’s “Diamonds” (again at No. 2) and “Ho Hey” by The Lumineers (again in the second and third spots, respectively). Making a broad jump to No. 4 from last week’s tenth position is Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble.” Swift’s number marks the most improved song of the week by far. Other victors for the week are Justin Timberlake’s “Beauty and a Beat,” which jumped from No. 7 to No. 5 (marking its ranking peak), and “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, which breached the Top 10 after standing at No. 13 last week.

Falling from grace are the likes of Ke$ha, Maroon 5, and Flo Rida, each dropping two spots from last week’s rankings. Phillip Phillips too faltered, slipping from No. 8 to No. 9 for the week of Dec. 29.
