The Corrs brought back together by father’s death

Irish pop act THE CORRS decided to reform after they reunited to play at their father’s funeral earlier this year (15).
Siblings Andrea, Sharon, Caroline and Jim Corr dominated the charts at the turn of the millennium with hits such as Runaway and Breathless, but they went on hiatus in 2006 and had not performed together in nearly a decade before losing their father, Gerry, in April this year (15).
They played at his memorial service and the sad occasion inspired them to get back together and pour their pain into new music.
Andrea Corr tells British newspaper The Sun, “We went through quite a bit during recording (the new album). Yes there was the sadness of the loss of our father. But I think on the whole the record is quite a life-affirming one. We’ve got to live because we’re here. It’s about life, death, loss and love, of course.
“It (father’s funeral) was a sad occasion but we did perform for our dad. Other than that we haven’t performed together in 10 years. We’re excited to be back now and playing the new songs.”
The band’s new album White Light is due for release in November (15) and they plan to hit the road for a tour next year (16).
