She said, “I went through heavier, darker times and I survived them. I didn’t die young… So I am very lucky. Jennifer Hudson‘s mother, brother, and 7-year-old nephew were tragically murdered by her brother-in-law in October of 2008, and Hudson recently (and shocking) admitted how she could have died then with them. She told a reporter from Ebony that she was all set to go to Chicago to be with her family until her fiancé, David Otunga, asked her to come to Florida with him to watch him in a WWE match. Hudson agreed to go with him and told Ebony, “That’s one of the things that saved my life. Because I could have been home with my mom then. He wanted me to come out to Florida with him instead of going to Chicago, and that’s why I’m still here. I’ve never said that before, and I can’t believe I just said that now.” – Digital Spy
