The Daily Shuffle: Meredith Vieira Announces She’s Leaving ‘Today’

She said she wants to spend more time with her husband Richard, who’s dealing with colon cancer and multiple sclerosis. She also wants to spend more time with her three children, but she hopes to “stay in the NBC family.” Ann Curry has been promoted and will become the new anchor, and Natalie Morales will fill Curry’s spot at the news desk doing the quick summaries of all the seemingly more important news stories so Al can have enough time to talk about the best way to slice your pears. – AP

Lady Gaga’s new song, “The Edge of Glory,” will be released on iTunes this afternoon. The release is part of a countdown promotion with iTunes, which I assume means Lady Gaga will continue to release songs until her album officially drops on May 23rd. To get us excited for the new song, she tweeted this. – MTV

Marg Helgenberger gave an interview to a French radio show, and she talked about what it was like to work with Justin Bieber on the set of CSI. She said, “I probably shouldn’t say this, but he was kind of a brat. He locked one of the producers in a closet and he put his fist through a cake that was on the craft services table.” Sometimes the cheese stands alone, as they say. – NYDN

Robert Pattinson was, at one point in his life, addicted to the gym. He said, “I get obsessed with things in short bursts. Like at the beginning of the last Twilight movie, I was working out a lot because I had to take my shirt off all the time.
