For too long, there has been a stigma about Disney Channel stars having to shed their goodie-goodie images post House of Mouse. But with so many stars talking openly about their sexuality and sexual orientation, the thought process is changing, and keeping mum about sexuality isn’t something that’s seen as “goodie goodie” anymore. It’s no longer considered edgy to come out or talk about sex or orientation. In 2016, it’s just sort of a thing that happens when you’re, well, honest.
Last week, Bella Thorne came out as bisexual. How did the former Shake It Up! star do it? When someone on Twitter asked her if she liked both girls and guys, she answered with a simple “yes.”
Zendaya’s former co-star is hardly the first Disney star to be outspoken about her sexuality. Here are 7 other times Disney stars said shocking things about sex, sexuality, and sexual preference.
1. Miley Cyrus reveals she's gender fluid.
The Hannah Montana star has dated hotties like Nick Jonas and Liam Hemsworth but she’s gone on record saying not only does she identify as gender fluid, but she also doesn’t “see” gender.
“I’m very open about it – I’m pansexual,” she’s said in the past. “I am literally open to every single thing that is consenting and doesn’t involve an animal and everyone is of age. Everything that’s legal, I’m down with. Yo, I’m down with any adult – anyone over the age of 18 who is down to love me. I don’t relate to being boy or girl, and I don’t have to have my partner relate to boy or girl.”
2. Rowan Blanchard identifies as queer.
There’s no “former” in her Disney Channel star title, and Girl Meets World
star Rowan Blanchard
is already getting honest to her fans about what sexuality and sexual preference means to her. The 14-year old revealed on Twitter, “In my life, only ever liked boys. However, I personally don’t want to label myself as straight, gay or whatever, so I’m not gonna give myself labels to stick with – just existing.” She also admitted in a separate tweet, “Yes, open to liking any gender in future, is why I identify as queer.”
3. Nick Jonas says he’s experienced gay sex.
On-screen, of course. In an interview, the former Jonas Brother revealed, “On Kingdom, I have a sex scene with a guy. It’s my lips, it’s my hands, it’s my body, even if I’m playing a character. So technically, I have done that, so I wouldn’t say I haven’t because that would be lying.”

4. Demi Lovato sings she has a taste for the cherry.
The former Sonny With a Chance
star may have been in an on again, off-again relationship with Wilmer Valderrama
for six years, but hey, she had to do something during the off-times. That’s when the Ruby Rose
(yes, like Orange Is the New Black
Ruby Rose) rumors come in. Rubes claims the pair slept together right around the time Demi’s song “Cool for the Summer” is released. With lyrics like “Got a taste for the cherry / I just need to take a bite,” it’s hard not to align the two together, especially when Ruby tweeted that they hooked up. Demi responded to the allegations that they were in a relationship, saying, “By the way, love is fluid. Whether there’s been rumors with one specific person or not, that’s all that matters. Humans are humans and when you connect with somebody on a spiritual level, it doesn’t matter. I don’t want people to ever look at the past or rumors or anything and try to figure me out. There’s a lot of relationships that I’ve had where nobody has even guessed it. Not everybody knows everything about me. The only thing that matters to me is that people know who I am today.”
5. Raven-Symone tweets she can get married.
In August 2013, it became legal for same-sex couples to marry and Raven celebrated by confirming she’s gay in a tweet. “I can finally get married! Yay government! So proud of you,” she wrote. But don’t call Rae a lesbian – she’s said in the past that she doesn’t identify as gay, just as “a human who loves humans.”
6. Selena Gomez credits Cara Delevingne for her adventurousness.
Sel’s close friend, model Cara Delevingne,
has been very open about her relationship with another woman and in 2015, the former Wizards of Waverly Place
star admitted Cara’s openness was making her see relationships in a whole new light. So is she bisexual? Yet to be determined. Bi-curious? Totally. She told PrideSource, “I think it’s healthy to gain a perspective… question yourself and challenge yourself.” As for Cara? “She’s so fun and she’s just extremely adventurous and sometimes I just want that in my life, so I don’t mind it.”

7. Vanessa Hudgens is all about the love.
