The O’Jays sue whiskey bosses over ‘humiliating’ TV ad

The founders of soul supergroup The O’jays are suing Crown Royal Whiskey over a “humiliating” new TV ad. Founding members Eddie Levert and Walter Williams claim marketing bosses at the booze company ripped off their For Love of Money track for a quirky new commercial without asking for permission.
They claim the background track to the ad is “humiliating and demeaning” and reduces them to “background singers”.
Williams and Levert are asking for more than $1 million (GBP625,000) in damages.
