Picture this: you’re rich, famous, known by millions of people around the world, and you get to fly in style in a private jet, anywhere you want, whenever you want.
While fame isn’t for everyone, traveling on a PJ sounds pretty great to me after a year in quarantine.
It seems like plenty of Hollywood celebs like to splurge on private jets, touting pics on the ‘gram and making us all get wanderlust for a luxe travel itinerary.
Rappers are known for touting their private flights in loads of songs. As Kanye West said on his track with Jay-Z “Gotta Have It,” “I stepped off the PJ in my PJs.” In the song “Richard Millie Plain,” Gunna raps that he’s “Countin’ cash on a private plane.” On “No Stylist,” French Montana raps “Hoppin’ out the jet, Lears.”
So, what Hollywood celebs spend the most on private jets?
Stratos Jets took a look at how much Hollywood celebs and world leaders spend annually on private jets.
John Travolta spends a whopping $2.25 million a year flying his very own Boeing 707.
Kylie Jenner spends $1.45 million a year flying her Bombardier Global 7500.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z spend $1.39 million a year flying around the world in their Challenger 850 Learjet.
Jim Carrey spends $1.05 million a year flying his Gulfstream V.
Taylor Swift fearlessly spends just shy of a million ($985K) flying her Falcon 900.
Celine Dion’s heart goes on her Bombardier BD 700 Global Express, spending $970K a year.
Tom Cruise shells out $950K for his Top Gun––I mean Gulfstream IV-SP. This is obviously not his private jet, but Top Gun: Maverick is expected to hit movie theaters in December 2021
Oprah Winfrey spends the same on her Bombardier Global Express XRS.
David Beckham bends it in the air in his Bombardier Challenger 350, spending $870K annually.
Finally, Kim Kardashian spends $730K on her mid-size jet.
The data was calculated by Stratos Jets by looking at the average upkeep of each aircraft and cost per flight of the same or equivalent private jets from their own data, plus other public sources, including Forbes.
“It’s interesting to see just how much celebrities, public figures, and world leaders spend on their air travel,” says Joel Thomas, President of Stratos Jet Charters. “Chartering a private jet can be just as luxurious, and a lot easier on the bank account, than buying one but there is definitely something about owning your own jet!”
