After a sensational performance as a first-time host of Saturday Night Live a couple of weeks ago, it looks like comedian Dave Chappelle is back in the spotlight for good. Yesterday, it was announced that Chappelle (whose infamous Chappelle’s Show on Comedy Central revamped the entire network) would be returning to TV via Netflix.

Three all-new comedy specials will premiere on the streaming service in 2017! Chappelle and director Stan Lathan will produce an original stand-up comedy special exclusively for Netflix, with its exact premiere date to be announced. The other two specials will be never-before-specials from Chappelle’s comedy vault. Dave stunned fans when he abruptly walked off the set of Chappelle’s Show back in 2004 forfeiting a massive payday of $50 million dollars
We knew it would take a lot for Chappelle to return to TV and apparently that “lot” is to the tune of $60 million dollars! Looks like Chappelle didn’t really lose out on much after all!
Chappelle has done over 500 concerts in the past three years, selling out shows within minutes of the announcements. I caught his 2014 special at Radio City Hall with rapper Nas, and it was sensational. It was his first performance in a decade. We’re just so glad this Chappelle is ready to bring his genius back to us. We’re certainly going to need all the humor we can get in the coming years.
