Thomas Dolby debuts video shot by student

One of pop star-turned-tech entrepreneur Thomas Dolby’s students at Johns Hopkins University has created a new video for one of the hitmaker’s fan favourite tunes.
Dolby premiered the promo for Screen Kiss while performing the track, which appeared on his 1984 album The Flat Earth, at a gig in Los Angeles on Wednesday night (25Jul18), explaining the hazy birds-eye-view of Hollywood was directed by one of his students.
The Hyperactive singer, who is a member of the faculty at the Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University in Maryland, will lead Peabody’s Music for New Media programme, slated to enroll its first students later this year (18).
Wednesday night’s show at Largo, during which Dolby chatted about anecdotes from his career, meeting Michael Jackson, and performed a virtual duet with famous fan Jason Mraz, served as a warm-up for his upcoming 80’s Weekend gigs – he’ll join Blondie, Adam Ant, Berlin, and Marc Almond for the concerts at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Friday and Saturday night (27-28Jul18).
Dolby will then tour across the U.S. before wrapping up dates on his An Evening of Music and Storytelling With Thomas Dolby trek in Maryland on 8 August (18).
