Tiffany Haddish and Lin-Manuel Miranda set for virtual Lucille Ball Comedy Festival

Tiffany Haddish, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Kenan Thompson are among the stars preparing to provide the laughs in the virtual Lucille Ball Comedy Festival.

The annual New York event, organized by officials at America’s National Comedy Center, will be going online due to the coronavirus pandemic, but it won’t be short of famous faces, with comedians Jay Leno, Gilbert Gottfried, Margaret Cho, Jimmy Fallon, and ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic all lining up for in-depth conversations about their work and influences.

Also featured during the three-weekend celebration will be Roy Wood, Jr., Lewis Black, Aidy Bryant, Penn Jillette, and Dulce Sloan.

Meanwhile, National Comedy Center chiefs will be taking the opportunity to salute the legacy of late Advisory Board Member Carl Reiner, who passed away in June (2020), at the age of 98.

As part of the special tribute, viewers will be shown never-before-seen archive footage from a previous interview with Reiner, famed for starring in films like It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World, and The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming.

He also created The Dick Van Dyke Show, and directed classic Steve Martin comedies The Jerk, Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid, and The Man with Two Brains.

Leno will help to kick off the 2020 Lucille Ball Comedy Festival at 8 pm ET on Friday (August 14, 2020), with the laughs continuing each weekend until August 30th.

The events will be available to stream for free, although donations to support the non-profit venue are encouraged.
