Biography

Tim Miller began as a graphic artist and, with David Stinnet, opened Blur Studio in 1995. A production company specializing in computer generated visual effects, the company was at the forefront of computer animation in commercials and sports cinematics, and was the creative force behind the short film "Gopher Broke" which was nominated for Best Animated Short Film at the 2004 Academy Awards. A longtime collaborator with director David Fincher, Miller was set to direct a segment of the "Heavy Metal" (1981) remake that Fincher planned to produce. The film was set to begin production at Paramount, but the studio backed out in 2008. On the feature side, the company was part of many projects, including "Avatar" (2009) and "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" (2010). On the game cinematic/commercial side, Miller directed the epic TV spot for the game "Dante's Inferno," which aired during the 2010 Super Bowl. His collaboration with Fincher was again on display when he directed the title sequence for Fincher's "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" (2011). In 2014 Blur Studios successfully raised over $400,000 on Kickstarter to fund a feature film based on "The Goon" comic, to be produced by Fincher. Miller was attached to direct a number of feature films, including the Fox superhero film "Deadpool" starring Ryan Reynolds.
