Timothy Hutton to play Gloria Steinem’s dad in biopic

Timothy Hutton has been cast to portray feminist icon Gloria Steinem’s father in a new biopic.
The Glorias: A Life On The Road is based on Steinem’s own memoir, My Life on the Road, and was adapted for the big screen by director Julie Taymor and playwright Sarah Ruhl.
Hutton will play Leo Steinem, alongside Julianne Moore and The Danish Girl star Alicia Vikander, who will both play the legendary activist at different stages of her life.
Bette Midler will also appear in the movie, as lawyer and politician Bella Abzug, while Janelle Monae has landed an undisclosed role in the project.
Taymor is reportedly still on the hunt for two more actresses to portray Steinem as a child and as a teenager. The filmmaker will also produce the project, while Steinem herself will serve as an executive producer.
Production is currently underway in Savannah, Georgia.
