Biography

Tito Puente earned a special place in Hollywood for his large variety of musical contributions to film. Puente started off his acting career mostly in film roles, appearing in "Musica" (1985), the Mia Farrow comedy "Radio Days" (1987) and the musical "Salsa" (1988) with Bobby Rosa. Known primarily for his acting, Puente contributed music to "Crossover Dreams" (1985) and "A Bailar!" (1988). In the nineties, Puente devoted his time to various credits, such as "Gladiator" (1992), "The Mambo Kings" (1992) starring Armand Assante, "Carlito's Way" with Al Pacino (1993) and "Latin Nights" (1993). Puente had a number of different projects under his belt in the early 2000s, including "Calle 54" (2000), "Blow" (2001) starring Johnny Depp, "Born Romantic" with Craig Ferguson (2001), the Antonio Banderas and Carla Gugino box office smash "Spy Kids" (2001) and "Hollywood Ending" (2002). Puente last provided music for the romantic comedy "Cuban Fury" (2014) with Nick Frost. Tito Puente passed away in June 2000 at the age of 77.
