Toby Jones and Rafe Spall poised to join Jurassic World sequel

British actors Toby Jones and Rafe Spall are preparing to enter Jurassic World for the blockbuster’s planned sequel.
Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt will reprise his role as dinosaur trainer Owen Grady for the follow-up, featuring opposite actress Bryce Dallas Howard, who will also return as park operations manager Claire Dearing.
Details about the plot have yet to be revealed, but The Hunger Games franchise actor Toby and Prometheus star Rafe are in talks to join the cast, according to Variety.com.
Colin Trevorrow, who directed the 2015 blockbuster, penned the script with Derek Connolly, but has handed over the reins of the project to The Impossible filmmaker J.A. Bayona.
Trevorrow remains onboard as an executive producer, alongside Steven Spielberg, who shot the original Jurassic Park in 1993.
Jurassic Park 2 is expected to hit movie theatres in June, 2018.
Bayona will have his work cut out to top Trevorrow’s roaring success with last year’s (15) action epic, as Jurassic World currently stands as the fourth most successful movie in global box office history, grossing $1.67 billion.
Plans for a sequel were announced in July, 2015, but Trevorrow vacated the director’s chair to take charge of Star Wars: Episode IX, which is scheduled for a 2019 release.
Ironically, Pratt previously admitted landing the lead in Jurassic World was a dream come true, comparing the franchise to his own “personal Star Wars”.
“For me, Jurassic Park was really kind of my Star Wars,” he told CinemaBlend.com. “I lined up at the theatre to see it, I saw it opening night, I saw every sequel, I’ve seen it a whole bunch of times… for me that was my big movie, I think I was 13 or 14 when it came out.
“And so it’s a big deal for me to be any part of that, let alone this part I’m going to be playing. I’m thrilled about it.”
