Travis Tritt and Sammy Kershaw pay tribute to late Norro Wilson

Travis Tritt and Sammy Kershaw have paid tribute to late country singer-songwriter Norro Wilson following his death on Thursday (08Jun17).
Norris Wilson, who was best known by his nickname Norro, passed away aged 79 at a hospice in Nashville, Tennessee due to heart failure.
Wilson enjoyed ten singles, such as Only You and Do It To Someone You Love, on America’s Billboard charts as a solo artist between 1969 and 1977 but saw more success as a songwriter, penning songs such as David Houston’s Baby, Baby (I Know You’re a Lady), George Jones’ A Picture of Me (Without You), Tammy Wynette’s He Loves Me All The Way, and Charley Pride’s Never Been So Loved (In All My Life).
He also wrote Charlie Rich’s The Most Beautiful Girl, which topped both the country and pop charts in 1973, and Rich’s 1974 single A Very Special Love Song, which won him a Grammy Award. He was later inducted into the Nashville Songwriters’ Hall Of Fame in 1996.
Besides songwriting, Wilson also worked as a producer and while working in A&R at the record label RCA played a vital role in the careers of Sara Evans, Reba McEntire, Shania Twain, whose debut album Mercury he co-produced, and Kenny Chesney, who he worked with on three albums.
Country star Tritt took to Twitter to pay tribute to Wilson, writing, “Norro Wilson was a true country music songwriting legend. So sorry to hear he has died. RIP,” while Kershaw wrote a lengthy statement on Facebook praising Wilson, who co-produced his debut album.
“Norro passed away today and we sure will miss him. I got to see him, hug his, kiss him on the cheek and thank him a couple of days ago for my career and I wouldn’t trade seeing him and talking to him for those few minutes 2 days ago for nothing,” he wrote. “Folks I am just one of thousands and thousands of people who can say nothing but good about Norro and who will also miss him. He was one of a kind.”
