Biography

Tristram Coffin was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Coffin started his acting career landing roles in such films as "Oklahoma Terror" (1939), "Overland Mail" (1939) and "West of Pinto Basin" (1940). He also appeared in "Queen of the Yukon" (1940), "Chasing Trouble" (1940) and the Buck Jones western "Arizona Bound" (1941). He continued to work steadily in film throughout the forties, appearing in the horror flick "The Corpse Vanishes" (1942) with Bela Lugosi, "Holt of the Secret Service" (1942) and "Perils of Nyoka" (1942) with Kay Aldridge. He also appeared in "Cosmo Jones in Crime Smasher" (1943). Film continued to be his passion as he played roles in the western "The Kid From Broken Gun" (1952) with Charles Starrett, "Law and Order" (1953) with Ronald Reagan and the Lana Turner musical comedy "Latin Lovers" (1953). He also appeared in the comedy "Fireman Save My Child" (1954) with Spike Jones and the drama "A Star Is Born" (1954) with Judy Garland. Coffin more recently acted in "Kino, the Padre on Horseback" (1977). Coffin passed away in March 1990 at the age of 81.
