Ty Burrell opens Bavarian beer garden in Utah

Actor Ty Burrell has become the latest celebrity to launch a side career as a restaurateur after opening his own Bavarian beer garden-style eatery in his hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah. The Modern Family star has expanded his venture into the hospitality industry by launching Beer Bar, which he has opened next door to Bar X, a cocktail spot he previously purchased after moving to Utah from New York City in 2008.
Patrons of his new business will get to choose from 150 beers to wash down a variety of bratwursts, local breads and Belgian fries, and Burrell reveals he and head chef Viet Pham hope to offer visitors good, simple food.
He tells The Associated Press, “It’s a super simple menu, which is what we wanted from the beginning. Basic, but well-made and local.
“Instead of putting the energy into a lot of elements, making sure you have fewer elements and you are taking the time to make them right.”
Burrell isn’t the first star to enter the restaurant business – Eva Longoria, Justin Timberlake, Robert De Niro and Ashton Kutcher have all opened their own establishments in recent years.
