A Danish actor best known for his role in the Dogme film "The Celebration," Ulrich Thomsen has landed prominent roles in numerous feature films in his native Denmark as well as in the U. K. and Hollywood. A graduate of the Danish National School of Theatre and Contemporary Dance, he was already an experienced theater performer when tapped to appear in the cult 1994 horror film "Nightwatch." Four years later, he had a major role in the inaugural effort from the Dogme 95 collective, "The Celebration ," establishing himself as a star. Following that film's strong critical reception, Thomsen began finding work beyond the borders of his native country; he had a role as a henchman in both the James Bond film "The World Is Not Enough " and Kathryn Bigelow's mystery thriller "The Weight of Water ." He also had a role in the 2002 mystery "Killing Me Softly " and appeared in the 2005 TV series " The Virgin Queen," which showcased his talents for the U.K. market.
