Victoria Beckham has leaped to the defense of celebrity Scientologists Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, insisting her pals shouldn’t be harassed for their beliefs.
Beckham can’t understand why the media makes such a fuss about the issue because the pair are “wonderful” people who have been hugely supportive of her move to Los Angeles with husband David and their young children.
Speaking to Matt Lauer for the Today show she says, “There’s been so much made of the Scientology, the this, the that.
“They are genuinely lovely people. Wonderful family. They do their thing. We do our thing. They are a wonderful family.”
And Beckham singles out Holmes for her unwavering friendship during her recent home upheaval, adding, “She’s a very strong, sweet, lovely girl. She’s helped me so much with the move. She’s genuinely a nice girl.”
