Biography

Virginia Farmer was an actress who had a successful Hollywood career. Farmer started her acting career landing roles in such films as "Hangmen Also Die" (1943) with Brian Donlevy, the Ginger Rogers drama "Lady in the Dark" (1944) and "Deadline at Dawn" (1946) with Susan Hayward. She also appeared in "Decoy" (1946), the drama "Strangler of the Swamp" (1946) with Rosemary LaPlanche and "To Each His Own" (1946). She continued to work steadily in film throughout the forties, appearing in the Burt Lancaster drama "Brute Force" (1947), "Bury Me Dead" (1947) and "A Woman's Secret" (1949). She also appeared in "Follow Me Quietly" (1949) and the Peggy Cummins drama "Gun Crazy" (1949). In the latter part of her career, she tackled roles in the drama "Born to Be Bad" (1950) with Joan Fontaine, the Alan Ladd drama "Captain Carey, U.S.A." (1950) and the drama "The Men" (1950) with Marlon Brando. She also appeared in "Cyrano De Bergerac" (1951) and "The Company She Keeps" (1951). Farmer last acted in the western "High Noon" (1952) with Gary Cooper. Farmer passed away in May 1988 at the age of 90.
