Waris Ahluwalia gets apology from airline

Sikh actor Waris Ahluwalia has received an apology from airline bosses after he was denied permission to board a flight because he refused to remove his turban.
The Indian-American star, whose credits include The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Darjeeling Limited, and The Life Aquatic, was banned from an AeroMexico flight from Mexico City to New York on Monday (08Feb16).
He took to social media after the incident to tell fans he was stopped from boarding “because of my turban”, and he later told the New York Daily News he refused to remove his religious headdress, saying, “That is not something that I would do in public. That’s akin to asking someone to take off their clothes.”
Now AeroMexico bosses have said sorry to the actor in a statement that reads: “We apologize to Mr. Waris Ahluwalia for the bad experience he had with one of our security elements.”
