With a successful directing career, Waris Hussein boasts the ability to create compelling screen images. In the early stages of his career, Hussein directed heart-wrenching dramas like "Quackser Fortune Has a Cousin in the Bronx" (1970) with Gene Wilder, "Melody" (1971) with Jack Wild and Mark Lester and "The Possession of Joel Delaney" (1972) with Shirley MacLaine and Michael Hordern. As a well-rounded director, Hussein directed some television shows, such as "Notorious Woman" (1975-76) and "Shoulder to Shoulder" (1975-76). Hussein's next directing projects were films such as the Gene Wilder comedy "Quackser Fortune Has a Cousin in the Bronx" (1970), the romance "Melody" (1971) with Jack Wild and the drama "The Possession of Joel Delaney" (1972) with Shirley MacLaine. Hussein won an Outstanding Directing In a Variety or Music Program Primetime Emmy Award for "Copacabana" in 1986. Most recently, Hussein directed "Her Best Friend's Husband" (2001-02).
