Biography

Wilson Benge was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. Benge's earliest roles were in film, including "A Trip to Chinatown" (1926), "Fast and Furious" (1927) and "Bulldog Drummond" (1929). He also appeared in "Untamed" (1929), "Charley's Aunt" (1930) and "Her Wedding Night" (1930). His film career continued throughout the thirties in productions like the crime drama "Raffles" (1930) with Ronald Colman, the adaptation "The Bat Whispers" (1930) with Chester Morris and "Big Executive" (1933). He also appeared in "False Pretenses" (1935) and "The Ghost Walks" (1935). Film continued to be his passion as he played roles in "Wallaby Jim of the Islands" (1937), the comedy "Mr. Boggs Steps Out" (1938) with Stuart Erwin and the dramatic comedy "Trade Winds" (1938) with Fredric March. He also appeared in "Pursuit to Algiers" (1945) and "Queen of the Amazons" (1947). Benge more recently acted in the Cornel Wilde historical film "The Scarlet Coat" (1955). Benge passed away in July 1955 at the age of 80.
