Blondie added to David Bowie tribute shows

Blondie, the Pixies and former R.E.M. star Michael Stipe have been added to the bill for the upcoming David Bowie tribute concerts in New York.
The Music Of David Bowie events, at Carnegie Hall on 31 March (16) and Radio City Music Hall the following day, will also feature performances by Mumford & Sons, Amanda Palmer, and Nancy Wilson, while longtime Bowie producer Tony Visconti will serve as band leader and musical director.
The first event had been planned before the rock icon’s death on 10 January (16), with The Roots, Laurie Anderson, Bette Midler, and Perry Farrell among those signed up to perform. A second date was added due to popular demand following Bowie’s death.
Blondie’s Debbie Harry is among the artists who will perform at both shows – her band will hit the stage at Radio City Music Hall and she’ll sing solo at Carnegie Hall.
Proceeds from the shows will benefit several New York-based music charities.
