Dolores O’Riordan confesses to police assault

Irish singer Dolores O’Riordan has pleaded guilty to assault charges following her arrest at Shannon Airport last year (14).
The Cranberries frontwoman was taken into custody in November, 2014 amid allegations she had lashed out at an Aer Lingus attendant during a flight from New York to Ireland.
She was also accused of attacking three policemen who had been called to remove her from the aircraft and was charged with three counts of assault and one of wilful obstruction of police. Officials claimed alcohol was not a factor in the incident.
O’Riordan returned to Ennis District Court in County Clare to face the allegations on Wednesday (16Dec15), when her lawyer, Bill O’Donnell, told Judge Patrick Durcan his client had accepted the evidence of the claims against her.
The Zombie singer did not speak during the hearing.
She was subsequently ordered to pen apology letters to the four people she assaulted, while Judge Durcan plans to sentence O’Riordan early next year (16).
She faces up to six months behind bars for the crimes.
The 44-year-old star’s guilty plea comes three months after O’Donnell had previously asked for a court delay to allow O’Riordan to seek medical treatment for an unspecified condition.
