Kasabian arranging hometown show after officials ignore pleas for help

British rockers Kasabian are planning to commission a specially-built stage for an enormous concert in their hometown after local officials ignored requests to help set up the gig. The Fire hitmakers revealed in 2011 that they were keen to repay the support of their family, friends and fans in their native Leicester, England by playing a huge gig in the city.
They asked local council bosses if it was possible to reinforce a platform at the city’s King Power sports stadium to accommodate the show, but after receiving no response, the rockers are now planning to arrange the concert themselves.
Guitarist Serge Pizzorno tells NME magazine, “We’re planning on doing something in Leicester. There’s nowhere to play bigger than about 2,000 people there so we’d have to build our own stage… it’ll be good for the city, it’ll be good for us, it’ll be good for everyone.”
