Former The Go-Go’s bassist Kathy Valentine has filed a lawsuit against her former bandmates over a financial dispute. The rocker claims Belinda Carlisle, Jane Wiedlin, Charlotte Caffey and Gina Schock founded a new company, GoGoCo Corp., to handle their business affairs after she left the band in March (13), in an effort to “freeze” her out of the all-girl group’s future profits.
Valentine alleges she was previously entitled to 20 per cent of the band’s revenue and now risks losing a majority of her stake in the group as part of the deal.
She filed papers at the Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday (24May13), two months after her departure on grounds of irreconcilable differences.
