Roger Taylor backs Zayn Malik’s walkout

DURAN DURAN star ROGER TAYLOR has backed ZAYN MALIK’s decision to quit ONE DIRECTION, because he also walked away from pop superstardom at the height of his fame.
The drummer left the Rio hitmakers at their peak in 1985 when he suffered severe exhaustion after five years on the road, and he now admits the glare of the spotlight was also a reason behind his decision to quit.
Taylor did not reunite with his bandmates until 16 years later in 2001, and he fully supports Malik’s decision to walk out on the What Makes You Beautiful stars in March (15) to live the life of a “normal” 22 year old.
Taylor tells British magazine Event, “I understand what One Direction are going through. And I could totally relate to Zayn when he said he just wanted to be a normal young guy, because that is exactly what I said when I left Duran.”
