S.J. Clarkson an early favourite to direct new Star Trek movie

British director S.j. Clarkson has emerged as the favourite to take charge of the next Star Trek blockbuster.
She is on course to become the first woman to helm a film in the Trek series after making a name for herself behind the scenes on Netflix TV hits Jessica Jones and The Defenders. She has also directed episodes of Vinyl and Orange Is the New Black.
If she gets the Star Trek job, Clarkson will complete a trifecta of women taking over superhero blockbusters following the success of Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman last year – Jenkins will be back for the sequel and last week (ends20Apr18) Cathy Yan got the job directing the standalone Harley Quinn film.
Clarkson’s Star Trek movie will be independent to the Quentin Tarantino and J.J. Abrams’ R-rated film, which is currently being scripted by The Revenant’s Mark L. Smith.
