Simon Le Bon denies sexual assault allegation

Simon Le Bon has denied he sexually assaulted a record store worker 23 years ago.
On Wednesday (11Jul18), Shereen Hariri accused the singer of inappropriately touching her at her place of work in Los Angeles.
Hariri was working at shop The Wherehouse in 1995 when Simon and his Duran Duran bandmates was there signing autographs, and she alleges he grabbed her “butt cheek” and started “making his way down my butt to my genitals”, leaving her shocked and “completely frozen”, she told the Detroit Free Press.
The 47-year-old added that she didn’t want to make a fuss at the time and be known as “Girl Who Accused Simon Le Bon” for fear of being “fired, rejected, ignored, even hated,” but decided to speak up after a tape was released of U.S. President Donald Trump, before he was elected as the American leader, bragging about grabbing women “by the pussy”.
Taking to his band’s official Facebook page, 59-year-old Le Bon denied the incident happened.
“I have read the statement which Ms. Hariri posted yesterday on Facebook about a record signing 23 years ago at Wherehouse in L.A,” he began. “The behaviour that Ms Hariri has accused me of, would have been just as inappropriate and unacceptable to me then as it is today. But the allegation is simply untrue.
“When Ms. Hariri first contacted me about her claim months ago, I proposed meeting with her in person so I could set the record straight. Instead, she has decided to pursue this publicly.
“I have always been one who can admit to my mistakes and apologize for my failings. But I cannot apologize for something I did not do.”
Replying to the post, Duran Duran’s long-time publicist Katy Krassner, who says she was also at the 1995 record signing, stated the incident “DID NOT happen”.
“Simon was never out of my sight that entire day, as each of the people on the Duran Duran team were “assigned” to a band member to help with the record signing,” she added. “Apart from anything else, as any fan knows, these kinds of events are a whirlwind of quick handshakes and photo calls which literally last a matter of seconds. The idea that he sat there, right next to his band mates, in front of a bunch of cameras, reaching behind him to sexually assault someone that day is simply ludicrous.”
