Tim Miller takes on Sonic the Hedgehog after Deadpool exit

Moviemaker Tim Miller has signed on to bring Sonic the Hedgehog to the big screen days after quitting the Deadpool sequel.
Sony Pictures bosses have recruited Miller and his collaborator Jeff Fowler for the project.
Fowler will make his feature directorial debut with the new film, while Miller will serve as an executive producer.
Patrick Casey and Josh Miller, who created Golan the Insatiable, are writing the script, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Miller, who made his directorial debut with this year’s (16) Deadpool, and Fowler are also working on an animated adaptation of cult comic the Goon with filmmaker David Fincher.
Miller was developing the script for a Deadpool follow-up, but had yet to sign a formal deal to take charge of the filming process when he parted ways with studio bosses at 20th Century Fox in late October (16) amid reports of creative differences with leading man Ryan Reynolds, who also served as a producer on the project.
Multiple reports suggest John Wick co-director David Leitch is the frontrunner to take on Deadpool 2, which will feature Reynolds’ return as the Marvel anti-hero.
Leitch was Brad Pitt’s stunt double in Fight Club, Ocean’s Eleven, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
