Tina Arena cuts promoters from her tour

Australian singer Tina Arena is taking a big financial gamble by investing her own money in her upcoming tour and promoting the gigs herself. The Chains hitmaker will kick off a series of dates Down Under in August (14), and she has decided not to hire a concert promotion company to handle the tour.
Arena says of the bold move, “I still have to put food on the table and I have been working for four decades to do that… I have never had promoters falling over themselves to do shows for me, a lot of them have needed convincing in the past. So now the only one who needs to be convinced is me. We realise how difficult it is but I know we can do it.”
The singer fears she lost a lot of revenue from her latest album Reset to Internet piracy, and wants to now recoup her losses on the tour.
She adds, “Between 10,000 and 15,000 copies were illegally downloaded on the day of release and what those people don’t understand is they are literally taking food off your plate.”
