Though he may have been best-known as the Oscar-nominated songwriter who penned the tune to the Whiffs (1975), Renaissance man George Barrie was also the creator of Brut cologne and, at one time, the CEO of Fabergé.....
Though he may have been best-known as the Oscar-nominated songwriter who penned the tune to the Whiffs (1975), Renaissance man George Barrie was also the creator of Brut cologne and, at one time, the CEO of Fabergé. Barrie was born in Brooklyn, N.Y.C., and his most active decade in film was the '70s, during which he served as a producer of such films as Nasty Habits (1977) and Fingers (1978). Barrie's work as a composer turned up in numerous films that he produced, as well as 1973's Night Watch and A Touch of Class. On November 16, 2002, George Barrie died of pneumonia in Miami, FL. He was 90 years old.
