Christopher Casson

British actor Christopher Casson spent most of his life, beginning at age three in a production of Julius Caesar (1915), on the stage. This may have been due to the fact that he is the son of two of the United Kingdom's most distinguished actors, Sir Lewis Casson and Dame Sybil Thorndike. During childhood, Casson appeared frequently with his parents but in his teens, left to launch his own career in Dublin. That was in the late '30s and after spending 30 years on-stage, he became an Irish television star in the '60s. His most famous television role was that of a country parson in the long-running series The Riodrans. Casson only occasionally ventured into feature films. He made his debut in Captain Lightfoot (1955). Later film credits include Zardoz (1974) and Educating Rita (1983).
