Born on May 5, 1983 in the Bailiwick of Jersey, a small island under British rule off the coast of Normandy, France, actor Henry Cavill attended St. Michael’s Preparatory School prior to being educated at Stowe Boarding School, where he appeared in many student productions. After leaving Stowe, Cavill plunged head-first into acting, landing a prominent role in “I Capture the Castle” (2002) as the unpaid servant of the Mortmain’s, a family living in a squalid castle and suffering financial despair. Following his supporting role as the vengeful 15-year-old Albert Mondego in the top-notch adaptation of “The Count of Monte Cristo” (2002), Cavill was a soldier in the PBS presentation of “Goodbye Mr. Chips” (2003), before landing a minor role in the umpteenth sequel, “Hellraiser: Hellworld” (2005). After playing the marginalized son of a strong and kindly warrior (Rufus Sewell) in “Tristan & Isolde” (2006), Cavill landed a prominent role in Showtime’s lavish 10-part series, “The Tudors” (2007- ), playing Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk, the closest friend of King Henry VII (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) who runs afoul of the brutal monarch after marrying his favorite sister, Princess Mary Tudor.
