The son of luminous Clark Brothers tap-dancer Steve Clark and a renowned choreographer who coached such stars as Jack Nicholson and Alfre Woodard, Russell Clark worked in film, television, music videos, and commercials, all of which helped make him one of the most prolific choreographers in the entertainment industry. Born in Philadelphia in 1949, Clark attended Boston's Emerson College before pursuing studies in London and Paris. He later segued into movies, with his moves appeared in such films as Earth Girls Are Easy (1989), Cadence (1990), The Crossing Guard (1995), and How Stella Got Her Groove Back (1998), with television work including the sitcom Dharma & Greg and The Temptations miniseries. It was in the world of music videos that Clark's choreography skills were in constant demand; he coaching such popular musicians as Beck, Michael Jackson, George Clinton, David Bowie, and Celine Dion, among others. Shortly after receiving a Governor's mention at the American Choreography awards in 2002, Clark died of cancer at his Hollywood home. He was 53.
