French actor Pierre Dux built his formidable stage reputation upon the classics, from Moliere's The Misanthrope to Rostand's Cyrano de Bergerac. From 1970 through 1979, Dux was the executive administrator of the legendary Comedie Francaise. His film work didn't always scale the heights of his live appearances, but even classical actors have to pay the bills sometime. Discounting a few minor-league action and horror films, Pierre Dux was given respectable movie showcases in Z (1969), as the French General; in Is Paris Burning? (1966), as Parodi; and in Goodbye Again (1961), an American-financed romantic drama starring Ingrid Bergman and Anthony Perkins.
