The football field at Elway's alma mater, Granada Hills High School, was renamed in his honor in 1998.
Named MVP in his final game, a Super Bowl XXXIII win over the Atlanta Falcons.
Led Denver to a record 47 fourth-quarter comebacks, and started five times in Super Bowls, a record for quarterbacks.
The only player in NFL history to pass for more than 3,000 yards and rush for more than 200 yards in the same season seven consecutive times.
Inducted into the College Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2004.
